COVID-19 has changed the world, and that includes our world here in NC.  Effective Monday at 5pm, Governor Roy Cooper has issued a ‘stay-at-home’ order: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/27/north-carolina-gov-roy-cooper-orders-residents-to-stay-at-home-order-amid-coronavirus-outbreak.html .

The SYC Board encourages everyone to follow these safe practices – not only for us, but for our families and others near us.  We encourage everyone to start now.

What about our upcoming club events?

In an abundance of caution, the SYC Board is cancelling all events up through the end of May. However, if the NC ‘stay-at-home’ order is lifted prior to the end of May, the board will consider restoring our event schedule where possible.

Events affected by this:

  • Spring Social at PROVO’s (already cancelled)
  • Marine Flea Market (already cancelled)
  • Cruise to BHI (already cancelled)
  • Cinco de Mayo at Loco Jo’s
  • PHRF Captains Meeting and Races 1 & 2.
  • Cruise to Myrtle Beach
  • Lone Palm Regatta

If the NC order remains in effect in June, more events may also be cancelled.  We will attempt (if possible) to move some of these events to later in the season – ONLY IF IT IS SAFE TO DO SO. In either case, further notices will follow.

Again, stay safe for you, your friends and your families!
